Term 2, Week 5

Per SaRa bat cufflinks

Soldering in Metal Clay

Instructions

  • A pair of cufflinks with soldered cufflink backs. The cufflinks must look like a pair. They can be identical or you could choose to design items that match e.g. a bee and a honeycomb

  • A pair of stud earrings with soldered earring posts. For the stud earrings, in this assessment we would like to see that you can make a matching pair of earrings. You can choose how to make them e.g. using moulds, fireable stones, hand formed, hand stamped etc

Already proficient in soldering, I was confident this week.

Cufflinks

I chose to make a pair of bat cufflinks, with a dark patina. I was pleased with them, but found a dink in one of the cufflink backs. On trying to remove this dink I ended up with a hole in the cufflink bar, so had to remove it and replace it.

Earrings

This was an easy project so I added a small pearl to the bottom of the studs.
