Polishing and finishing

Instructions

• Piece of jewellery with a high shine/mirror finish Piece of jewellery with a matte/satin finish.

• We were not required to make anything this week, but to choose two of the pieces made so far; one with high shine, one with a matt finish.

High shine

For this submission I chose the piece I made in week 2. My mentor commented that this was the best finish on a piece that she had seen.

Matt finish

For the matt piece, I submitted the motif where the stone changed colour in the kiln in week 5. Once the piece is finished, it is polished with an abrasive material to take the shine away. I really don’t like the matt finish, but the submission scored highly.
