Embellishments in metal clay

Instructions

  • Create an embellished piece of your own design using at least three different types of embellishments. The piece can be either a pendant, pair of earrings or ring.

  • Examples of embellishments include: balls (minimum of 3 balls), leaves, shell, small stone setting, snakes/vines (minimum of 2 snakes/vines), texture elements, hearts, keum boo.

Egyptian blue lotus

The Lotus was not my first choice of submission for this project.

I had made a motif design from the roof of an ancient Egyptian tomb. I loved the design but when fired, the beautiful blue stone changed colour to a very dark red and i was not happy with it. So I made another piece to submit and ended up with this lotus. The pearl was originally from a pair of earrings, so is recycled.

The pictures below are of the first piece showing how the stone changed colour.
